  11. What is FringeNet?
  12. ─────────────────────────────────────

  14.   FringeNet is a network of BBSes with the intent of sharing information
  15.   and ideas with other users around the world. While this net is aimed
  16.   toward those "first-time" echomail sysops, we welcome all boards to
  17.   join in and participate in this grand experiment! The administration
  18.   of this net assumes that the vast majority of folks using a BBS to
  19.   "talk" to others are mature adults, or at least capable of acting like
  20.   one.

  22.   Currently, this net supports most QWK based echomail software,
  23.   including Rnet, Qnet, Tnet, and more! We also have hubs that will
  24.   echo the mail via a mailer such as FrontDoor, via Fido technology.
  25.   Please see FringeNet.FTS for a list of area names.

  27.   This net does not have very many rules, nor will it have an abundance
  28.   of same, unless the need is proven. We are always looking for ideas for
  29.   new conferences, and am very interested in what the user would like to
  30.   see and obtain from an echomail network. It is not our intention for this
  31.   net to grow to be a huge network, as I already have a fulltime job, but I
  32.   do want to encourage communication between any user that's interested.

  34.   Unless otherwise noted, the conferences are overseen and hosted by John
  35.   Stewart. Anyone wishing to host a conference, or start a new one, please
  36.   let me know, and it will be taken into consideration. This net will
  37.   have no "moderators", but will have Hosts. FringeNet will enlist the help
  38.   of "Roving Hosts" in most conferences. Any shareware author that wishes to
  39.   set up a support conference for their software is welcome, please let me
  40.   know.

  42.   The Rules

  45.    1. No profanity or personal attacks in any conference, other than
  46.       LUNATICS, where anything goes. By the way, the LUNATICS conference
  47.       is restricted to those callers 18 years old, and older! :>
  48.  
  49.    2. Stay on topic for the conference you are in, so that everyone may
  50.       fully enjoy the focus of the conference
  51.  
  52.    3. As these conferences are echoed, refrain from over-quoting and
  53.       give the sysops who echo these conferences a break.
  54.  
  55.    4. REAL SOUNDING NAMES ONLY! No handles please.... No one wants to
  56.       message with DOCTOR DEATH...
  57.  
  58.    5. All FringeNet sysops and conference hosts are required to carry
  59.       the ADMIN and TALK2ADMIN conferences.
  60.  
  61.    6. HUBS are required to call into The Fringe once a day, while nodes
  62.       may call into their respective hubs NO LESS than every other day.
  63.       We want to keep the mail moving, right?

  65.    7. All FringeNet Hubs and Nodes are required to run the CHECKREP
  66.       utilities, included in CHECKREP.ZIP in this info file.

  68.    8. Hubs are required to offer ALL FringeNet conferences to their
  69.       nodes, even LUNATICS....Of course, given the "adult" nature of
  70.       Lunatics, Hubs do not have to carry the conference on their BBS,
  71.       just offer it to their nodes...:>

  73.    9. Nothing illegal is desired, requested, or allowed!
